As TJ began to mature into an adult, he began to serve as a musician at his home church, Sanctuary of Praise Ministries, where Pastor Jonathan L. McKnight is the founding pastor. There, TJ studied God's word and listened to the living word preached through his pastor. He realized that not only was he called to be a singer and a musician, but that God has a special assignment for his life. TJ was to sing, play the drums, and to preach the gospel. He became more than a musician, he was instead a minstrel.

 

TJ has had many opportunities to minister before  national recording gospel artists and world renowned pastors either in the form of singing, drumming, or through preaching. This list includes Jonathan Nelson, Le'Andria Johnson, Shana Wilson, Byron Cage, Vicky Winans, Marvin Sapp, Myron Butler, Pastor Paula White and Bishop TD Jakes. TJ did not view these moments as simply great opportunities, instead he demonstrates a servants heart and humbly states “I just wanted to be a blessing.”

 

In 2013, TJ founded a gospel choir, Power of Praise (P.O.P), consisting of a group of family and friends whose hearts were set simply on praising God through the gift of music. TJ knew from the beginning that there was something special about this group of people. “I couldn't believe this was happening,” he says as he remembers their first time on stage together. The group carried  a high praise, filled with energy and an anointing from the most high. This was no ordinary praise because it carried the power of God that  moved throughout the church. This is where TJ knew that this group must be called the “Power of Praise.”

 

Today, TJ Bristol continues to serve in music ministry as his local church and is a chaplain at the Orange County Jail. The members of Power of Praise are a family united in ministry and as they tour all throughout central Florida and even nation wide, you can hear them minister the new hit single “I Choose Life.” The title speaks for itself and the song provides inspiration and touches the hearts of all who get an opportunity to hear it. TJ Bristol – father of one daughter (Taliyah Bristol), singer, musician, songwriter, preacher, and businessman – is truly a blessing to many. He recognizes that God has placed him on this earth for a purpose, and that is to be a blessing to others.

 

No matter what setting he is placed in, TJ continuously displays a praise and a worship that can be recognized. “I believe that true worship cannot be rehearsed,” TJ testifies. The authenticity of TJ's worship is the driving force behind his ministry and is the reason why his music is a blessing to all who experience it.
