To inspire means, to influence, move, or guide by divine or supernatural inspiration.  It also  means the action or power of moving the intellect or emotions.  I believe that living a creative life means living an inspired life.  Creating art is an outlet, a form of expression, a craft to be mastered, and dreams to be manifested.  There’s something exhilarating about being able to imagine something that’s outside your own experience.  Imagination gives us greater vision and perspective in life.  Albert Einstein once said, “Imagination is more important than knowledge.  For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there will ever be to know and understand

.

From an early age I remember having a very active imagination.  This played a huge part in my interest with drawing.  When I first started creating art, years ago, I began by making comic books and pencil drawings.  Since then I’ve continued to draw and experiment with many mediums, some of my favorites being:  watercolor, oil, and acrylic paints, chalk pastel, ink, and charcoal.

Recently i’ve been very interested in drawing people and I enjoy doing portraits, drawing the figure, and capturing movement and gestures.  I ‘ve found that exaggeration in art allows me to communicate ideas in a more expressive way and is very fun to do.  This also helps me to capture personality to tell the viewer about who they are.

A goal for many of my pieces of work include capturing movement and energy.  This is achieved through the use of gesture as well as painting technique.  I also aim to create a sense of stylized realism with paint as well as an abstract expressionist element.  My work will incorporate a more modern touch, with subject matter that is relevant to this generation.
